Let’s get your alarm working.

Alarm does not ring

1. Open First Words and confirm the alarm is enabled.
2. Allow notifications, exact alarms, and full-screen alarms when Android asks.
3. Allow First Words to run in the background and remove battery restrictions.
4. Check alarm volume and Do Not Disturb settings.
5. Restart the app after restarting your phone, then create a short test alarm.

Microphone does not hear you

1. Allow microphone access for First Words.
2. Confirm an Android speech recognition service is installed and enabled.
3. Choose the correct app language in Settings.
4. Try voice calibration in First Words Settings.

Emergency dismissal

If speech recognition repeatedly fails, press and hold the emergency dismissal button continuously for 10 seconds. An emergency dismissal does not count as a successful morning.

Your data

The app has no account or cloud synchronization. Reinstalling the app or clearing its Android storage can permanently remove local alarms and progress.
